Walnut & Stone is led by its founder, whose family built its name in commercial and industrial construction — work where the budget holds because it has to, and the schedule is a promise, not a hope.

On a commercial job, nobody hopes the numbers work out. The budget is engineered before the first truck arrives, the schedule is tracked to the day, and one person is accountable for both. That's the world we come from. It's the only way we know how to build.

We brought that discipline to the mountains and turned it toward the thing commercial work never had: a family at the end of the build. A home asks for more than rigor — it asks for warmth, for craft, for a feel for the land it sits on. But it deserves the rigor too. The result is a home that looks the way you dreamed it — delivered the way commercial clients expect.

We build a small number of homes each year in Western North Carolina, focused on Greater Asheville. Every one of them gets the same three commitments: a complete budget before ground breaks, one point of contact, and a build you can watch from anywhere.
